Angel Food Cake

6 ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 and 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 10 Egg whites
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon Cream of tartar

8 steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. Sift flour and 3/4 cup sugar together in a bowl.
  3. In another large mixing bowl, beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar and vanilla until foamy.
  4. Beat in remaining 1 cup of sugar, two tablespoons at a time. Beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  5. Fold in flour/sugar mixture gently.
  6. Put batter into a 10" tube pan, running spatula through once, to eliminate any big bubbles.
  7. Bake for about 35 minutes, until top springs back when touched.
  8. Invert pan on a bottle to cool.
